I made something beautiful; and it was all for me.
I didn’t want decorations I’d be pulling down by the end of the day, as fun as that is especially when it's woven into play... I also wanted something that felt like me; warm, a little elegant, something that could live in my space for weeks without clashing with everything around it. Something that said celebration without screaming it.
Marie’s Mother’s Day kit in pink did exactly that.
I framed the cupcake collage and set it on the shelf. I tucked the flags into my orchid centerpiece; “Beautiful Mother” in soft pink next to white and purple blooms; and somehow it looked like it had always been there. The botanical art print went into a gold frame alongside my succulent and immediately felt like a permanent part of my space. Then I folded the origami boxes myself, slowly, one crease at a time. It’s a meditative kind of process, folding. You have to be present for it. I didn’t mind that at all.

I also made bookmarks from the kit elements; laminated and finished with a tassel; for my current read. A little treat for myself that I’ll actually use long after Mother’s Day has passed.
I made all of this for myself because I am proud of the mother I have become. I pour everything into being my kids’ safe place, their cheerleader, their guide through a world that keeps changing faster than any of us expected. I work hard every day to build their inner voice; the one that tells them they are loved, they are capable, they are worthy of kindness.
And somewhere in that process, I’m learning to use that same voice on myself.
So this Mother’s Day, I made something subtle and beautiful and just for me. Kudos to all the mamas out there doing the same.
